District 9 Baseball

Four District 9 senior baseball players have been chosen to play in the first-ever Pennsylvania High School All-Star game on June 22nd at Penn State University. DuBois Central Catholic’s Brayden Fox and Aiden Snowberger, as well as Punxsutawney’s Coy Martino and Clarion’s Derek Smail were named to the West team. In addition, veteran Clearfield head coach Sid Lansberry has been chosen as one of the coaches for the West squad.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped three of four games in Chicago over the weekend. Sunday, the Bucs fell, 3-2 to the Cubbies in a game that went into the 10th inning. All four Pirates-Cubs games were decided by one run. After an off day Monday, the Bucs play three games in Detroit. The first pitch of Tuesday’s game is scheduled for 6:40. Tune in for the Pirates-Tigers pregame show on Connect FM tomorrow evening at 6:15.

Altoona Curve:

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve earned a series split with Erie by posting a 7-1 win over the Sea Wolves Sunday. Next for Altoona is another six-game Eastern League home series, this time with Richmond. Game one is Tuesday night, and it begins at 6:30.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their 2025 minicamp last week. Next for the Steelers is Training Camp in Latrobe starting on July 23rd.
