WEDNESDAY BASEBALL SCOREBOARD
DuBois 2, Brookville 1 – Talon Hodge and Trey Wingard each drove in a run for the Beavers.
DuBois Central Catholic 10, Johnsonburg 0 – Aiden Snowberger and Brayden Fox combined for a no-hitter for the Cardinals. It was the second straight no-hit game by DCC pitchers.
Elk County Catholic 12, Brockway 2
Punxsutawney 13, Bradford 0 – Coy Martino pitched a no-hitter for the Chucks, and he struck out 14 Bradford batters.
St. Marys 6, Clearfield 2
Curwensville 7, Glendale 3
WEDNESDAY SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD
Brockway 10, Elk County Cathollic 0 – Elysabeth Myers had three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs for Brockway.
DuBois Central Catholic 5, Johnsonburg 1 – Rylee Kulbatsky pitched another no-hitter for DCC. She struck out 16, but gave up one unearned run.
St. Marys 2, Clearfield 1
Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:
Both the baseball and softball United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series begin Monday in DuBois.
The Penn State DuBois baseball team heads into the series next week as the number two seed. The local Penn State Lions will play their first game at Showers Field on Monday, and their first series opponent will be either Penn State Schuylkill, or Miami Middletown.
The Penn State DuBois softball team is the number three seed in next week’s Small College World Series. Penn State DuBois will face Bay Path University on Monday at Heindl Field.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
Yesterday, the Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-0. It was the Bucs’ seventh loss in a row, and tenth loss in their last 11 games.
The Pirates are off today. Atlanta visits Pittsburgh for a three-game weekend series. Friday night, the Bucs and Braves have a first pitch scheduled for 6:40. Listen for the pregame show on Connect FM at 6:15.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve out-hit Erie on Wednesday, but lost the game to the Sea Wolves, 6-4. Game three of the Curve at Erie series is scheduled for a start this evening, at 6:05.
