District 9 Baseball and Softball:

TUESDAY BASEBALL SCOREBOARD

DuBois 8, Bradford 1 – Trey Wingard and Mason Dinkfelt each contributed two hits for the Beavers.

DuBois Central Catholic 10, Kane 0 – Blake Pisarcik pitched a no-hitter for the Cardinals; and Carter Himes, Brayden Zatsick, and Brayden Fox led the DCC offense with two hits apiece.

Clearfield 15, Johnstown 10

Curwensville 14, Williamsburg 1

 

TUESDAY SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD

Brockway 15, Bradford 2 – Elysabeth Myers, Meeca Smith, and Ella Reitz powered the Lady Rovers attack by driving in 10 of Brockway’s 15 runs.

Curwensville 18, Williamsburg 0 – Addison Siple tossed another no-hitter for the Lady Tide while striking out six Williamsburg batters.

 

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State DuBois baseball team heads into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series next week as the number two seed. DuBois hosts the series, and the local Penn State Lions will play their first game at Showers Field on Monday. Their first series opponent will be either Penn State Schuylkill, or Miami Middletown.

The Penn State DuBois softball team is fresh off winning the PSUAC Championship last weekend. The Lady Lions are the number three seed in next week’s USCAA Small College Softball World Series, also being played in DuBois. Penn State DuBois will face Bay Path University on Monday at Heindl Field.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Last night, the Pittsburgh Pirates lost again … their ninth loss in their last 10 games. The St. Louis Cardinals upended the Bucs, 2-1.

This afternoon, the Pirates wrap up the three-game series in St. Louis. The Bucs-Cardinals pregame show begins at 12:50. The first pitch of today’s game is scheduled for 1:15, on Connect FM.

 

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve got shut out in Erie last night, 3-0. Game two of the Curve-Sea Wolves series is scheduled for a morning start today, at 11:05.
