District 9 Baseball and Softball:

Monday’s District 9 baseball and softball schedules were wrecked by the rain.

The DuBois at Bradford; DuBois Central Catholic at Kane; Johnsonburg at Brookville; and Glendale at Curwensville baseball games were postponed.

In softball, the DuBois at Bradford; DuBois Central Catholic at Kane; Central Clarion at Brookville; Clearfield at Johnstown; and Curwensville at Glendale games were postponed. The Punxsutawney at Indiana softball game was canceled.

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State DuBois baseball team, with an overall record of 30-9, has received an at large bid into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series. The series will be played in DuBois next week. DuBois enters the tournament as the number two seed and will play their first game at Showers Field on Monday. Their first series opponent will be either Penn State Schuylkill or Miami Middletown.

The Penn State DuBois softball team is fresh off winning the PSUAC Softball Championship Series last weekend. The Lady Lions take an overall record of 20-13 into next week’s United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series in DuBois. The team enters the world series as the number three seed and will face Bay Path University on Monday at Heindl Field.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates have now lost eight of their last nine games. St. Louis knocked off the Bucs, 6-3, last night.

Tonight, the Pirates-Cardinals pregame show will begin at 7:20. The first pitch of the game is scheduled for 7:45, on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve start up a six-game Eastern League series in Erie tonight. The first pitch of the Curve-Sea Wolves game is set for 6:05pm.
