District 9 Baseball and Softball:

Baseball Playoffs –

Thursday — DuBois 3, Allderdice 1 — Class 5A, Districts 9, 8 and 10 subregional playoff game – Noah Farrell pitched five and two-thirds innings giving up only three hits, and he went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Beavers. DuBois will play Meadville on Tuesday.

Thursday – Punxsutawney 13, Clearfield 3 – Class 4A, District 9 championship. The Chucks will face Somerset on Wednesday in a subregional playoff game.

Thursday – Karns City 5, St. Marys 4 – Class 3A, District 9 championship

Today – Curwensville vs. Moniteau – Class 2A, District 9 semifinals

Today – DuBois Central Catholic vs. Port Allegany – Class A, District 9 semifinals

Today – Elk County Catholic vs. Clarion – Class A, District 9 semifinals

Softball Playoffs –

Thursday – Cranberry 13, Brookville 3 – Class 2A, District 9 semifinals

Thursday – Redbank Valley 8, Brockway 7 – Class 2A, District 9 semifinals

Today – DuBois Central Catholic vs. Otto-Eldred – Class A, District 9 semifinal

Today – Curwensville vs. Northern Potter – Class A, District 9 semifinal

Monday – Punxsutawney vs. Clearfield – Class 4A, District 9 championship

Tuesday – DuBois vs.Central Mountain — Class 5A, PIAA subregional playoffs

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to Milwaukee, 8-5, last night at PNC Park.

The Pirates play Milwaukee again tonight. The first pitch of the Bucs-Brewers game in Pittsburgh is set for 6:40. Listen for the pregame show on Connect FM this evening at 6:15.

Altoona Curve:

For the second consecutive night, the Altoona Curve game in Akron was rained out. Later today, the Curve and Rubber Ducks will play a doubleheader. The first pitch of the twin bill’s first game is scheduled for 5:05 this afternoon.
