Elk County Tournament: Port Allegany 6, Johnsonburg 1 (Consolation) / Elk County Catholic 8, St. Marys 3 (Championship) – It was ECC’s eighth straight win. Both Jack Breindel and Chase Simbeck had two hits, and each had an RBI for the Crusaders.

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

Penn State DuBois is heading into today’s PSUAC Baseball Championship Series with an overall record of 28-7. Penn State DuBois plays at 4pm this afternoon at Showers Field in DuBois.

Penn State DuBois softball is also participating in the PSUAC Softball Championship Series. The team is scheduled for an elimination game at Heindl Field in DuBois today at Noon. The overall record for Penn State DuBois heading into the series is 16-13.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Three home runs off of Pirates’ ace Paul Skenes in the fifth inning was more than enough yesterday for the Chicago Cubs to beat the Bucs, 8-3, at PNC Park. The Bucs now host San Diego for a weekend series. Listen for the pregame show of the Pirates-Padres game tonight at 6:15. The first pitch of the game is set for 6:40 this evening on Connect FM.

 

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve got doubled up by Akron, 4-2, at PNG Field yesterday. Game four of the Curve-Rubber Ducks series in Altoona is set to begin this evening at 6.
