District 9 Baseball and Softball:

Baseball Playoffs –

The Class 3A, District 9 baseball playoffs begin today as Brookville takes on St. Marys.

On Wednesday, the DuBois Beavers will go up against Allderdice in the Class 5A, Districts 9, 8 and 10 Subregional playoffs; and also on Wednesday Punxsutawney and Clearfield will battle for the Class 4A, District 9 championship.

 

Softball Playoffs –

The Class 5A, Districts 9 and 8 Subregional softball playoff game between DuBois and Brashear is today. Also today, in the Class 4A, Districts 9 and 5 Subregional playoffs, Punxsutawney is facing Bradford, while Clearfield takes on Somerset. On Tuesday, Brookville’s Lady Raiders have a Class 2A, District 9 softball playoff contest against Central Clarion.

 

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates were swept by the Phillies in their weekend series in Philadelphia. Sunday, the Bucs blew a complete game pitching gem by Paul Skenes and lost, 1-0.

Tonight, the Bucs start a six-game home series against the Reds and Brewers. The Pirates-Reds game this evening is scheduled for 6:40. Listen for the pregame show on Connect FM at 6:15.

 

Altoona Curve:

Yesterday, the Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve wrapped up a six-game series with Harrisburg at PNG Field. The Senators beat the Curve, 6-4, on Sunday. But Altoona won the series over Harrisburg taking four of the six games. On Tuesday, the Curve begin a six-game series in Akron.
