District 9 Baseball and Softball:

MONDAY BASEBALL SCOREBOARD

Hollidaysburg 4, DuBois 1

Clearfield 2, Bald Eagle Area 1 – Craig Mays pitched a three-hitter and struck out eight for Clearfield.

Elk County Catholic 12, Johnsonburg 8 – A four-run sixth inning pushed the Crusaders into the lead and eventually the win column over the Rams.

 

MONDAY SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD

Forest Hills 6, DuBois 1

St. Marys 7, DuBois Central Catholic 1 – Kelsie Fledderman drove in five runs by belting two home runs for the Lady Dutch, and Avery Eckels pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts.

Redbank Valley 8, Brookville 3

Bald Eagle Area 7, Clearfield 0

Curwensville 9, Purchase Line 0 – For the Lady Tide, Addison Siple pitched a two-hit shutout, struck out 13, and helped herself at the plate with three hits and three runs scored.

 

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State DuBois baseball team has won nine straight games, and is scheduled to wrap up its regular season today with a doubleheader at Houghton College.

The regular season will also conclude for Penn State DuBois softball today with a doubleheader at Penn State Scranton.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates open a three-game home series with the Cubs today. Listen for the pregame show at 6:15 this evening. The first pitch of the Pirates-Cubs match up is set for 6:40 on Connect FM.

 

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve starts a six-game home series with Akron tonight. This evening’s first pitch at PNG Field is set for 6pm.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins:

Monday morning, it was announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins and Head Coach Mike Sullivan have agreed to part ways. Sullivan has been at the helm of the Pens since December 2015, guiding them to a pair of Stanley Cup championships in 2016 and 2017, and racking up more wins than any other Penguins coach, 409. The Penguins organization indicates that a thorough search for the next head coach is already underway.
