District 9 Baseball and Softball:

WEDNESDAY BASEBALL SCOREBOARD

Johnsonburg 15, Brockway 14 – In the loss, Caleb Daugherty had a 5-for-5 performance at the plate for the Rovers with three doubles and eight RBI.

Brookville 10, Bradford 3 – Both Owen Fleming and Ladd Blake drove in two runs for the Raiders.

Punxsutawney 3, St. Marys 1 – Nevin Day’s two-run blast in the sixth inning produced the winning runs for the Chucks.

 

WEDNESDAY SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD

DuBois Central Catholic 18, Elk County Catholic 0 – Rylee Kulbatsky was perfect on the mound and at bat for DCC … Kulbatsky pitched a no-hitter while striking out seven, and she was 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in four Lady Cardinals runs.

Punxsutawney 6, St. Marys 3 – Avary Powell hit a home run and was 2-for-3 at the plate for Punxsy. It was the first loss of the year for the Lady Dutch.

 

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State DuBois baseball team puts a 23-and-6 overall record on the line in a home double-header on Friday. Penn State DuBois will be hosting Penn State Beaver.

Wednesday, the Penn State DuBois softball team lost a pair of games to Carlow College, 9-1 and 4-2. On Friday, Penn State DuBois will play a double-header at Penn State Hazleton.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Strong Pirates pitching boosted Pittsburgh to another win last night over the LA Angels, 3-0. The third and final game of the Pirates-Angels series is tonight at 9:25.

 

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve won their fourth game in a row, beating the Chesapeake BaySox yesterday, 3-2. The Curve and BaySox play game three of the series at Prince George’s Stadium in Maryland at 6:35 tonight.
