District 9 Baseball and Softball

WEDNESDAY BASEBALL SCOREBOARD

DuBois 2, Punxsutawney 1 – The Beavers’ Noah Farrell gave up only 1 run on four hits, and he struck out six Chucks batters. Farrell was 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in a run for DuBois while teammate Trey Wingard was 3-for-3 at bat.

*The Brockway at DuBois Central Catholic; Johnsonburg at Brookville; Bellwood-Antis at Clearfield; Curwensville at Claysburg-Kimmel; and Bradford at St. Marys games were all postponed.

WEDNESDAY SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD

Punxsutawney 13, DuBois 6 – Makenna Gula drove in four Lady Chucks runs, and Sara Gotwald smacked four hits driving in a pair of runs for Punxsy. For the Lady Beavers, Audrey Hale hit a home run, and drove in four runs while going 3-for-3 at the plate.

*The DuBois Central Catholic at Brockway; Clearfield at Bellwood-Antis; Glendale at Curwensville; and Elk County Catholic at Kane games were postponed due to the weather.

 

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State DuBois baseball team is scheduled to play at Penn State Shenango today. On Friday, the Penn State DuBois softball team will be hosting Penn State Mont Alto for a double-header.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Great starting pitching and a grand slam put the Pittsburgh Pirates back into the win column Wednesday night. The Bucs beat Washington, 6-1 last night at PNC Park. This afternoon, the Bucs and Nationals play the final game of the four-game series. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:35. Listen for the pregame show at 12:10 today on Connect FM.

 

Altoona Curve:

The Altoona Curve won their day game over Somerset Wednesday, 10-1. Curve batters managed 14 hits against the Patriots and scored five runs in the third inning. This evening, the Curve and Somerset match up for the third game of the six-game series in Altoona with the first pitch schedule for 6pm.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins:

Tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ season will come to an end as they host the Washington Capitals. The Pens-Caps pregame show begins at 6:30pm, and the opening face-off will be at 7 tonight … on Sunny 106.
