PIAA Basketball Playoffs
GIRLS
Class A – Saturday – District 9 champs DuBois Central Catholic will be hosting Bishop Canevin of District 7, the WPIAL, in the PIAA playoffs. The game begins at 1pm.
Class 4A – Saturday – Clearfield, the District 9 champs, host Laurel Highland of the WPIAL in the PIAA playoffs. The game is scheduled for 1pm.
BOYS
Class 4A – Friday – D9 champion Clearfield will host District 10’s Grove City in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs. Tip off time is 7pm.
Class A – Friday – D9 runner-up Elk County Catholic will host Youngsville of District 10 in the first round of the PIAA playoffs at 7pm.
Penn State DuBois Basketball:
Both the Penn State DuBois men’s and women’s basketball teams have been invited to the USCAA Division 2 Small College National Tournament in Buffalo, New York. Penn State DuBois men will play their first tourney game next Tuesday against Bucks County Community College. Penn State DuBois women also play their first tournament game next Tuesday as they face Cincinnati-Clermont
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates were out-slugged 12-4 by the Boston Red Sox in a spring training game Tuesday in Bradenton. Today, the Bucs will take on the Toronto Blue Jays.
Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins lost in Colorado last night, 4-1. The Pens have now dropped seven of their last eight games. Their road trip continues in Las Vegas Friday night. The Penguins-Golden Knights pregame show starts at 9:30, and the opening face-off is scheduled for 10 Friday night on Connect FM and Sunny 106.
