District 9 Baseball and Softball:

WEDNESDAY BASEBALL SCOREBOARD

DuBois Central Catholic 8, Elk County Catholic 0 – Cardinals’ pitcher Aiden Snowberger threw a perfect game…giving up no hits, no walks, Snowberger tossed only 85 pitches over seven innings, and he struck out 14 ECC batters

Brookville 3, Bradford 2 – Luke Burton had a 2-for-3 day at the plate for the Raiders with a double and one run scored

Punxsutawney 10, St. Marys 4

Curwensville 12, Harmony 2

 

WEDNESDAY SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD

DuBois Central Catholic 15, Elk County Catholic 0 – The Lady Cardinals also had a perfect game pitching performance by Rylee Kulbatsky. She struck out 11 of the 12 ECC batters she faced. Offensively, DCC had a 4-for-4 day from Marina Hanes including two doubles, a home run, and three RBI

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State DuBois baseball team is scheduled to host Central Maine Community College today. On Friday, the Penn State DuBois softball team is scheduled to start the regular season with a double-header at Allegany College in Maryland.

 

PIAA Basketball Playoffs

The lone District 9 basketball team still alive in the PIAA playoffs semifinal round is D9 Class A boys champs, Otto-Eldred. The Terrors will tip off for the Class A Western Pennsylvania championship against Neighborhood Academy of the WPIAL tomorrow night at 7 in Erie.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped a 5-2 spring training game decision to Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Only four more tune-up games remain before the Bucs open the regular season in Miami next Thursday,. The Pirates are off today, but will face Boston on Friday.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins are four games below .500 with only a dozen games remaining on the regular season schedule. Next for the Pens is a Friday night home game with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Penguins-Blue Jackets pregame show starts at 6:30, and the opening face-off is scheduled for 7 tomorrow evening … on Connect FM and Sunny 106.
