PIAA Basketball Playoffs

Two District 9 basketball teams still have life in the quarterfinal round of the PIAA playoffs. The D9 Class 2A girls champion Redbank Valley Lady Bulldogs go up against Penns Manor of District 6 tonight at Armstrong High School in Kittanning. … Also tonight, in boys Class A, D9 champ Otto-Eldred takes on Aquinas Academy of the WPIAL at Hagerty Family Event Center in Erie.

 

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State DuBois baseball and softball teams are completing their pre-season game schedule. Next Tuesday, the Penn State DuBois baseball team plays its season-opener at Grove City College. One week from today, next Friday, the Penn State DuBois softball team is scheduled to start the season with a double-header at Allegany College of Maryland.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost big to the Minnesota Twins Thursday in a spring training game. The Twins won, 15-3. This evening, the Bucs play Detroit in Bradenton. You’re invited to tune in for Pirates’ spring training baseball Sunday afternoon at 1 when the Bucs play the New York Yankees. The Pirates open the regular season in Miami in less than two weeks – on March 27th.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins:

Make it three straight wins for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Pens beat St. Louis in Pittsburgh last night, 5-3. Tomorrow, the Penguins host the New Jersey Devils. The Pens-Devils pregame show starts at 2:30, and the opening face-off is scheduled for 3 Saturday afternoon on Connect FM and Sunny 106.
