PIAA Basketball Playoffs – Second Round
GIRLS
Class A – TONIGHT at 7pm – District 9 champs, DuBois Central Catholic, face St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy of District 6 in the second round of the PIAA playoffs. The game will be played at Bald Eagle Area High School.
Class 4A – TONIGHT – Clearfield, the District 9 champs, and fresh off their first-ever PIAA playoff win, take on Blackhawk of District 7, the WPIAL. The game is scheduled for 7:30pm at PennWest Clarion Tippin Gymnasium.
BOYS
Class A – Tuesday – D9 runner-up Elk County Catholic came up short to the WPIAL champs, Neighborhood Academy, 63-44, at PennWest Clarion Tippin Gymnasium. Lance O’Neill led the Crusaders’ scoring with 16 points. ECC’s season comes to an end with a 25-2 record.
Penn State DuBois Basketball:
Both Penn State DuBois basketball teams began action in the USCAA Division 2 Small College National Tournament in Buffalo, New York Tuesday. The Penn State DuBois men’s team lost in overtime to Bucks County Community College, 92-89. In the consolation round today, Penn State DuBois takes on Penn State Wilkes-Barre. The Penn State DuBois women’s team fell to Cincinnati-Clermont on Tuesday, 56-40. Today, the Penn State DuBois women play against Penn State York in the consolation round.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates pounded the New York Yankees, 9-1, Tuesday in a spring training game. Today is an off day for the Bucs in Florida. Thursday afternoon, the Pirates are scheduled to face the Minnesota Twins .
Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins have won two straight games. Last night, the Pens beat Las Vegas in overtime, 3-2. The Penguins host the St. Louis Blues Thursday night. The Pens-Blues pregame show starts at 6:30, and the opening face-off is scheduled for 7pm Thursday on Connect FM and Sunny 106.
