District 9 Baseball and Softball:

WEDNESDAY BASEBALL SCOREBOARD

DuBois Central Catholic 4, Moniteau 1 – Carter Himes and Marek Hoyt had two hits apiece for DCC.

Punxsutawney 5, Clearfield 4 (10 innings)

The DuBois at Philipsburg-Osceola and Curwensville at Harmony games were canceled.

 

WEDNESDAY SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD

DuBois Central Catholic 2, Moniteau 0 – Rylee Kulbatsky gave up just one hit and struck out 17 for the Lady Cardinals.

St. Marys 14, Central Clarion 1 – Kelsie Fledderman hit her ninth home run of the season for the Lady Dutch.

The Punxsutawney at Clearfield game was postponed.

 

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The baseball and softball Small College World Series for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association continues in DuBois.

On Wednesday, Penn State DuBois fell to Salem University at Showers Field, 13-6. At 2:30 this afternoon, Penn State DuBois will face Penn State Mont Alto in the loser’s bracket. The winner of that game will go up against Salem for the championship.

The Penn State DuBois softball team, the number three seed in this week’s Small College World Series, was knocked out of the tournament by Carlow University, 7-4, on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates benefited by strong pitching and a pair of two-run home runs as they shut out the Mets in New York last night, 4-0.

The Pirates are off today. Friday night, the Bucs start a three-game series in Philadelphia. The first pitch of the Pirates-Phillies game tomorrow night is scheduled for 6:45. Listen for the pregame show on Connect FM at 6:20.

 

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve split a Wednesday doubleheader against Harrisburg. The Curve won the first game, 8-0; but lost game two by a score of 6-4. The Curve and Senators will play the third game of the series at PNG Field in Altoona tonight at 6.
