District 9 Basketball Playoffs
BOYS
Class 4A – Saturday afternoon – D9 champion Clearfield will play Obama Academy of District 8 in a subregional playoff game
Class A – Saturday night – D9 championship game – Elk County Catholic vs. Otto-Eldred
GIRLS
Class A – Saturday afternoon – DuBois Central Catholic will play Otto-Eldred for the D9 Class A championship
Class 4A – TONIGHT – Clearfield, the District 9 champs, will face Carrick of District 8 in a subregional playoff matchup
Class 5A – Saturday afternoon – Punxsutawney will play Cathedral Prep for the Districts 9, 8 and 10 subregional title
Penn State DuBois Basketball:
The Penn State DuBois men’s basketball team will be playing for the PSUAC championship. The men’s team defeated Penn State Greater Allegheny Wednesday night, 84-70. The Penn State DuBois men will go for the title against Penn State Mont Alto on Sunday afternoon at Bryce Jordan Center.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
In Florida, the Pittsburgh Pirates turned in a 12-1 spring training game win yesterday over Minnesota. Today, the Bucs host the Rays of Tampa Bay for a 1:05 matchup. Tune in for Pirates spring training games on Connect FM this weekend. The Bucs face Baltimore on Saturday, and Detroit on Sunday. Both games begin at 1pm.
Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins quickly fell behind Philadelphia last night. But the Pens turned it around, came back from a three-goal deficit, and pulled out a 5-4 overtime win over the Flyers. Saturday afternoon, the Penguins are scheduled to host Boston. The pregame show starts at 2:30, and the Pens-Bruins opening faceoff is scheduled for 3pm Saturday on Sunny 106.
