District 9 Basketball Playoffs

BOYS

Class 5A – Tuesday – Meadville 48, DuBois 41 – District 9, 6 and 10 subregional semifinal

Class 4A – Tuesday – Clearfield 45, St. Marys 26 – District 9 championship – Braison Patrick netted 20 points for Clearfield as the Bison claimed their 10th D9 title in the past 11 years – Clearfield will play Obama Academy in a subregional playoff on Saturday

Class 3A – Tuesday – Cranberry 53, Brookville 46 – District 9 championship

Class A – Tuesday – Elk County Catholic 55, Johnsonburg 34 – District 9 semifinals – ECC will face Otto-Eldred Saturday night for the D9 championship

 

GIRLS

Class 4A – Tuesday – Clearfield 57, St. Marys 44 – District 9 title game – first D9 championship for Clearfield in 25 years – Mia Helsel scored 24 points for the Lady Bison – Clearfield will face Carrick of District 8 in a subregional matchup Friday night

Class A – TONIGHT – DuBois Central Catholic vs. Coudersport – Semifinal game

Penn State DuBois Basketball:

The Penn State DuBois men’s basketball team has advanced into the semifinals of the PSUAC playoffs. Penn State DuBois men knocked off Penn State Beaver, 80-72, on Monday. The men’s team will take on Penn State Greater Allegheny tonight.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped a 2-1 decision to the Atlanta Braves in a spring training game yesterday in Bradenton, Florida. This afternoon, the Bucs have a split-squad schedule with games against Baltimore and Atlanta. Both contests are expect to start at 1:05.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins took it on the chin last night in Philly. The Flyers defeated Pittsburgh, 6-1. The Pens will host the Flyers Thursday night. The pregame show starts at 6:30. The Penguins-Philly opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 Thursday night on Connect FM and Sunny 106.
