Pittsburgh Penguins:

Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins lost to Utah, 6-1. But it was a huge night for the Captain, Sidney Crosby, as the 37-year-old netted his 600th career goal.

The Penguins play their traditional Thanksgiving Eve game Wednesday night. Tune in for the opening faceoff at 7:30pm, and you can catch the Pens-Vancouver Canucks pregame show at 7 Wednesday evening … on Connect FM and Sunny 106.

 

PIAA Football Playoffs

For the first time ever, there are two District 9 football teams in the semifinal round of the PIAA playoffs:

CLASS 1A

D9 champ Port Allegany 38, District 10 champ Wilimington 20 – In the game, the Gators’ Aiden Bliss broke the District 9 single season rushing record, and Port advanced to the PIAA semifinals for the third time since 2012. Bliss finished the night with 293 rushing yards. In the semifinal round of the playoffs, the Gators will play WPIAL champ Fort Cherry at Penn West Clarion Friday night at 7pm.

CLASS 2A

D9 Champ Central Clarion 49, D6 champs Cambria Heights 6 – The Wildcats scored on their first five possessions of the game. Central Clarion racked up 485 yards of total offense, and quarterback Jase Ferguson accounted for 141 yards on the ground, and 223 passing. Central Clarion will play the WPIAL champs, South Park at Farrell High School Friday night at 7.

CLASS 4A

WPIAL champ Thomas Jefferson 35, D9 Champ Clearfield 0 – Three first half turnovers by Clearfield led to a 28-0 halftime lead for Thomas Jefferson. The Bison’s powerful running attack was held to just 140 yards in the game. Clearfield’s season comes to an end with a 12-1 record.

College Football (Saturday):

#4 Penn State 26, Minnesota 25

Louisville 37, Pittsburgh 9

 

Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Browns in Cleveland Thursday night, 24-19. The loss drops Pittsburgh’s record to 8-and-3. Next for the Steelers is division foe, Cincinnati this Sunday in Cincy at 1pm.

College Basketball:

Penn State Wilkes-Barre 109, Penn State DuBois 98 (Saturday) – Penn State DuBois plays at Clarion Tuesday afternoon

Penn State DuBois Women 63, Penn State Wilkes-Barre 61 (Saturday) – Penn State DuBois plays at Pitt-Bradford this afternoon
