PIAA Basketball Playoffs
GIRLS
Class A – Saturday afternoon, District 9 champs, DuBois Central Catholic, hosted Bishop Canevin of District 7 in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.
Dubois started off with a huge lead of 22-0 ultimately beating out Bishop Canevin 55-14.
Class 4A – Clearfield hosted Laurel Highland of the WPIAL at 1pm Saturday. Clearfield’s Girls Basketball team was able to comeback for their first ever PIAA win with a score of 63-55
BOYS
Class 4A – On Friday night, D9 champion Clearfield hosted District 10’s Grove City in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs. Ultimately losing in a close-knit game 70 to 71.
Class A – On Friday night, D9 runner-up Elk County Catholic, opened the game against Youngsville on a 23-0 run , ultimately ending on a lopsided victory of 88-25.
Up next, they will face off against district 7 champion Neighborhood Academy on Tuesday.
Penn State DuBois Basketball:
Both Penn State DuBois basketball teams will participate in the USCAA Division 2 Small College National Tournament in Buffalo, New York next week. The Penn State DuBois men’s team will play Bucks County Community College on Tuesday. The Penn State DuBois women’s team will also play their first tournament game on Tuesday, and they will face Cincinnati-Clermont.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
Saturday’s game against Atlanta started off rocky as the Bucs were down by 2 in the first inning. After making a comeback in the mid-game, ultimately losing four points in the 9th leading to a 5-6 loss.
Sunday, the Pirates faced off against Detroit falling behind in the beginning and ultimately losing 3-5.

Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pens beat out Minnesota Sunday afternoon scoring three goals to Minnesota’s one.
The next Penguins Game is Tuesday vs. Vegas Golden Knights. Pregame show begins at 6:30 pm, with the opening face-off scheduled for 7pm on ConnectFM and Sunny106.
