District 9 Football Playoffs

Brockway 41, St. Marys 27 – Class AAA District 9 championship – The Rovers jumped out to a 27-0 lead in the second quarter…Quarterback Aiden Patton completed 12 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns … Blake Pisarcik had 110 rushing yards and 88 yards receiving for Brockway. Next for the Rovers is a District 5 and 9 subregional playoff game against Somerset Friday night at Karns City.

DuBois 45, Cathedral Prep 42 – Class 5-A subregional playoffs – first DuBois playoff win since 1996 … Beavers quarterback Trey Wingard threw three touchdown passes and ran for another … DuBois will play Hollidaysburg in the District 6,8,9 and 10 subregional championship Friday night in Hollidaysburg.

– University Prep Obama Academy 38, Punxsutawney 26 – Class 4-A subregional playoffs … Clearfield will play Obama Academy Saturday for the Class 4-A subregional championship Saturday afternoon in Brookville

– Keystone 42, Ridgway 21 – District 9, Class A playoffs

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins were 3-1 winners over Montreal Saturday night.

The Pens are headed out on a three game road trip. Tuesday night the Penguins play the Islanders in New York.

 

Pittsburgh Steelers:

Sunday was the Pittsburgh Steelers’ bye week. The Steelers are 6-and-2 and will play next Sunday afternoon at 1 in Washington.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Jared Triolo of the Pittsburgh Pirates was named the National League Gold Glove Award winner for the utility spot, edging out Kiké Hernández of the Dodgers and Brendan Donovan of the Cardinals. It is Triolo’s first Gold Glove.
