Mary Y. “Bonnie” (Aurand) Cooper, age 86, of DuBois, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Born on April 20, 1940, in Luthersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank E. Aurand and Della (Gearhart) Aurand Cornman. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Levina Marshall, Floyd, Margaret, and Harry Aurand. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Bonnie is survived by her six loving children: Darla Donahue; Kathy Berkey (Alan); Brenda Bojalad (Joe); Shawn Cooper (Stephanie); Terry Donahue (Sandy); and Laura Luce (Frank).
Her love for her family only continued to blossom as her children blessed her with 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. With each new generation, her heart grew fuller, and her legacy of love grew stronger. Affectionately known as “Mema” and “Bon Bon,” Bonnie was a feisty little lady with a strong personality, an opinion worth sharing, and a heart full of love. She enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles, coffee on the porch, fresh-picked tomatoes, and cooking for her family during the holidays. Above all, Bonnie loved her family unconditionally. She had a remarkable gift for making her children and grandchildren feel loved, supported, and accepted. Through every mistake and challenge, she offered understanding rather than judgment and a love that never wavered.
In accordance with Bonnie’s wishes, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. No public funeral service will be held. A celebration of her life will be hosted by her family in late November, with additional details to be announced.
