Sylvia L. Thomas, age 77, of Brockway, passed away on Monday, September 21,2026 at Penn Highlands DuBois with her family by her side.
Born in DuBois on June 4,1949 she was the daughter of the late Guy and Martha (Jackson) Galentine.
Sylvia married the love of her life, Ward Thomas Sr. in Chester, PA, he preceded her in passing on April 9, 1992.
She graduated from the DuBois Area High School, was co-owner of the Original Hoagie Shop in DuBois and Thomas & Sons Garage, retiring from the DuBois Nursing Home after 28 years in housekeeping.
She enjoyed word search puzzles, solitary and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Sylvia is survived by her children; Michael (Alisha) Markum of Pittsburgh, Ward (Helen) Thomas of Grampian and Christina (Charles) Jamison of Brockway, ten grandchildren; Alexis Markum, Noah Walker, McKenna Easterbrook, Tanner Thomas, Morgan and Derek Masonis, Samantha (Jessie) Sheeley, Dustin (Stephanie) Jamison, Kayla (Jordan) Travis and Nikki Jamison. Three great-grandchildren; Brentley Sheeley, Colby Minnick and Lakyn Travis. One brother Kenneth Galentine of Luthersburg and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by nine brothers and sisters.
Friends and family will be received at the Adamson Funeral Chapel & Crematorium on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 2 – 4 with a private family service will beginning at 4 with the Rev. Amy Koehler officiating. Interment will take place in Rockton Cemetery.
