Elbert H. “Chip” Chiplis, 89, of Rochester Mills, passed away on August 6, 2026.
He was born on January 1, 1937 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Elbert and Ruth (Wilson) Chiplis.
Chip faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force.
On June 6, 1960, he married Evelyn Ann Hill. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage.
Mr. Chiplis spent his working life as an operating engineer. He retired from Local 66.
Chip was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching Steelers football.
Preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, sister, Elberta Garcia; brothers, Thomas Chiplis, and infant brother Addie Chiplis.
Chip is survived by wife, Evelyn; sons, Bill (Elaine) Chiplis, and Chuck (Cathy) Chiplis Sr.; daughters, Evelyn “Ann” (Tom) Valeski, and Victoria (Greg) Barnett; grandchildren; LeRoy (Holly) Grusky, Julie (Eric) Baun, Chad (Brittany) Chiplis, Tony (Barb) Chiplis, Jesse (Hailey) Chiplis, Laura Chiplis, Charles Chiplis Jr., Kyle Valeski, Katelyn Valeski, Jacquelyn (Jeremy) Byrd, Rachel Barnett, and Caroyln (Ryan) Hoover; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Irene (Ron) Smith, JoAnne Rice, Jean Tate, Mary Klock, Stella Shedd, and Rose Olexy; and brothers, Larry, Clifford, and Tim Chiplis.
