William Gregg Titus
1948-2026

William Gregg Titus, 78, of Clarington (formerly of Marchand) passed away at home on Sunday, August 2, 2026, with his family by his side, following and extended illness from agent orange.

He was born in Punxsutawney on January 28, 1948, a son of the late Gregg George Titus and Margaret Virginia (Miller) Titus.

Mr. Titus was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.  His service and sacrifices will always be remembered and honored with gratitude and respect.

On October 24, 1970, he married Katherine Sue Anthony.  She survives and resides in Clarington.  They enjoyed nearly fifty-six years of marriage through sickness and in health as Kathy lovingly cared for him at their home until he passed away.

Bill was a master carpenter and the owner of Titus Top Shop where he specialized in cabinetry and countertops.  He was known for his impeccable woodworking, craftmanship and attention to detail.  Bill attained his own dream by building his own log cabin that is beautifully nestled among the peaceful woods in Clarington.

He was a member of the John W. Jenks Masonic Lodge, the Rossiter and Punxsutawney VFW.  He also served as the treasurer of the Hopewell (Perry) Cemetery.

Bill loved mission trips to Costa Rica, Jamaica and Vietnam.  He loved the children of impoverished communities.  Each trip he would take twenty-five or so ball caps that he would hand out during the trip.

He also enjoyed volunteering locally as Santa for many years.

In his free time, he liked to show coon dogs and served as a judge of the coon hunts.  He also enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing.  His trophies were important to him and have been preserved as timeless treasures adorning the walls of his log cabin.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three children, Angela States of Richlands, North Carolina, Tracy (John) Dutko of Ashville and Jeffrey Allen (Marcella) Titus of Home, PA; eleven grandchildren, Emilee (Levi) Lewis, Heather States, Evan (Madison) States, Maelyn Dutko, Maverick Dutko, Jeffrey Allen Titus, Jr., Layla Titus, Hank Titus, Liam Titus, Noele Titus and Presley Titus; three great grandchildren, Colt, Grant and Elisha Lewis; two sisters, Jane (Wayne) Hansen of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Barbara Stewart of Punxsutawney.

Preceded in death by his parents, one son, William Paul Titus; three brothers, Richard, Robert and Kenneth Titus.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.  A Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

An additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday at the Alliance Church in Punxsutawney, officiated by his friend, Jonny Stockdale.  Military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will be at Northpoint Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Shriners Children Hospital or Tunnel to Towers.
