Joyce Ann Wood, 81, of Punxsutawney passed away on June 29, 2026 at her home.
She was born on August 21, 1944 at the Adrian Hospital in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Andrew and Fannie (Behrendt) Jurcenko.
Ms. Wood was a 1962 graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School.
Joyce was the proud mother of two children, Shawn Wood of Millheim, and the late Lisa (Wood) Poston of North Carolina.
She enjoyed many years of employment as a sales associate with both Goodwill and Walmart.
Joyce’s faith was a true cornerstone in her life. A born-again Christian, she lived out her faith every day through her kindness and compassion toward others. She was a former member of the First Assembly of God Church in Punxsutawney, where her faith was nurtured and shared with others.
In recent years she especially enjoyed taking car rides with Shawn around town, often stopping at places that brought back fond memories and moments she cherished.
Joyce is survived by her son, Shawn Wood; sister, Delores “Dee” Buczyna of Hawaii; sister-in-law, Mary Catarouche of Walston; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Poston; brother, George Catarouche of Walston; sister, Donna Harbison of Brookville; and brother-in-law, Sam Harbison of Brookville.
