1940-2026
Clinton “Skip” Ray Harriger, 86 of Emerickville, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Penn Highlands DuBois. Skip was born on April 20, 1940, to the late Bernard and Alma (Schuckers) Harriger in Emerickville, PA. He was born in his grandparent’s home, where he and his wife later resided and raised their three children until his passing. Skip married Nancy Smith on February 10, 1962, in DuBois, PA, and they spent 64 years of devoted marriage beside each other; she survives. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a 1957 graduate of DuBois Area High School and, after graduation, enlisted in the United States Navy. He completed four years of active duty and then became a Navy recruiter, completing 18 years of service. Skip was employed for several machinery businesses before his time at Utilities and Industries in Reynoldsville, PA, until his retirement in 2000. He owned and operated his own business, C.R. Harriger Machine Co., until he retired just a few years ago. Skip was a very well-known machinist and was always tinkering with a project in his shop. He could be found in his shop working on a part for a tractor or a part for a farmer up the road, from sun-up to sun-down. Skip was an active member and treasurer of the Past to Present Machinery Association and the Moraine Tractor Cruisers. He was an avid collector of antique farm tractors, with Farmall as his absolute favorite, and an active participant in many local parades and tractor rides. He was usually seen with a grandchild or a big teddy bear riding alongside him during the parades. Over the years, Skip restored many tractors and enjoyed sharing the stories behind them. He was always going to tractor shows and sharing his love of tractors with his family and friends. He was an active member and served on multiple committees of the Emerickville Global Methodist Church until his passing. Skip served as President of the Emerickville Lutheran Cemetery Committee for many years.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in passing by his daughter Jodie and her husband James Garman. In addition to his wife, Skip is survived by his two siblings: Emery (Linda) Harriger and Delores Hirt. He is also survived by two children; Robin Fenstemaker and Kevin (Joyce) Harriger, 5 grandchildren; Justin (Megan) Campbell, Jessica (Noah) Burtner, Jeremy (Katrina) Harriger, Kristin (Thomas Jr.) Knapp, and Zachary Garman, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the family’s request, with interment at the Emerickville Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Skip has asked that any donations made in his memory be made to the Emerickville Global Methodist Church.
