Jean A. McGranor
1937-2026

Jean A. McGranor, 88, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, while surrounded by her family at her home. Jean was born on November 21, 1937, to the late Floyd G. and Martha M. (Zimmerman) Johnston in Winslow Township, PA. She was a 1955 graduate of Reynoldsville High School where she was a majorette. On June 15, 1957, Jean married the love of her life, William E. McGranor; they just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary together. Jean was devoted to her faith. She attended St. Peters Lutheran Church in Lutherburg and was very active within the church. She was also a member of the Reynoldsville Grange. Jean was a secretary for Prudential until she started to raise her kids. After her children were in school, Jean went to work with her husband at Nationwide Insurance as a secretary. They worked for 30 years together until their retirement. Jean loved to bowl with her friends in a bowling league. She was a great card and domino player earning the nickname “Kahuna Gram”. She was a simple woman who was genuine and kind. Above all else, Jean loved to be home with her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and hosting Sunday gatherings for the whole family. In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by son: Jeff (Sharon) McGranor, Robin (Rick) Maxim, four grandchildren: Michele (Ben) Stahl, Richard (Jen) Maxim, Becky (John Conley) Johnson, and Ben (Nina) Johnson; and five great-grandchildren: Ian Maxim, Riley Maxim, Alexia Maxim, Jae Harris, and Myles Maxim. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in passing by her sister: Ruth (John) Sullivan. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 1pm to 3pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Reynoldsville Ambulance, 207 E Main St, Reynoldsville, PA 15851, or to the Reynoldsville Volunteer Fire Department, 411 Jackson St, Reynoldsville, PA 15851.
