PENFIELD – A new distillery and tasting room is now open in the Penfield area, serving on-site whiskey, cocktails, and featuring local beer on tap.
Iron Axe Distilling, located at 15576 Bennets Valley Highway, started over a decade ago as a homemade still that eventually grew into a storefront business offering five flavors of whiskey.
““Well, it all started about 10, 12 years ago,” explained Owner Matt Hasselback. “I built a little still in my garage, and I took it up to the camp, and it became a bit of a tradition to make moonshine on the eve of deer camp.”
He hopes to take the business out into the community in the future, meaning you could soon see them at local events near you.
