Violet Eckman, 96, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, while a patient at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Violet was born on September 3, 1929, to the late Harry Calvin and Florence Mae (Keller) Kunselman in Oil City, PA. She worked in housekeeping at Punxsutawney Area Hospital for over 15 years until retirement. Violet married Donald L. Eckman on February 21, 1947; Donald preceded her in passing. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Grace Methodist Church both in Punxsutawney. She was very active in the church where she was always ready to lend a hand. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed playing bingo. Violet is survived by two children: Linda (Dennis) Harkins and Donald (Judy) Lee Eckman Jr.; one sister: Isabelle Marshall; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; with three great-great-grandchildren on their way whom she was so excited to meet. In addition to her parents and husband, Violet was preceded in passing by one daughter: Florence (Robert) Zaleski; and two sisters: Betty Bluementhal and Emma Jean Bush. Family and friends will be received for a funeral service on Saturday, May 23, 2026, beginning at 2pm, at the Presbyterian Church in Punxsutawney, 106 E. Union Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
