Ruth J. Preston, age 91 of Rockton, PA, died Friday, April 24, 2026 at her home.
Born on April 7, 1935 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert B. and Sarah E. (Hannold) Alleman, Sr.
Ruth was a 1955 graduate of Red Bank Valley High School.
On November 22, 1958 she married Edward L. Preston. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2010.
Ruth was a homemaker.
She was a life member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 VFW Auxiliary where she served as President as well as other offices. Ruth was also a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17 Auxiliary Unit 17 and the Falls Creek Eagles Auxiliary. Ruth loved trips to Dairy Queen and was always putting others before herself. Above all, she loved her family, especially doting on her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her children; Sallie Anne Bersey and her husband James of Warner Robins, GA, Valerie Zimmerman and her husband Jerry of Brookville, PA, Patricia Marrara and her husband Samuel of Rockton, PA, Shirley Mosier of Rockton, PA and Stephen Preston and his wife Sandy of Brockway, PA, twelve grandchildren; Stephen Bersey, Kimberly Tolbert, Trisha Fields, Jarvo Vincent, Jr., Jessica Reid, Michael Marrara, Chris Bennett, Stacy and Douglas Mosier, and Grace, Dessie, and Sarah Joy Preston, ten great grandchildren; Jackson and Julianna Bersey, Dorothy Jane Tolbert, Brittany Fields, Valayna Vincent, Payton and Regan Reid, Landen and Dylan Marrara, and Molly Bennett, and a great-great grandchild; Timothy Steele, Jr.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; infant Edward Eugene and Albert Alleman, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating.
Burial will be held in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
