Robert “Bob” Mehok age 87, of Sykesville Pa, passed away on April 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 18, 1938, in Sykesville, Pa. Bob was the beloved son of the late Stephen and Anna “Kulick" Mehok. He was preceded in death by his brother John Mehok and his wife Bainie, James Mehok and his wife Donna, his sister Eleanor Haky and her Husband Leo, in-laws, Doug Zimmerman, Jim and Sara Witherite, Jack Kelly, Leroy and Carol Kelly. Bob shared 64 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Carol Jean “Kelly” Mehok, she survives him.
Bob served his Country in the United States Army in the 3rd Armored Division as an Armored personal carrier driver.
A lifelong resident of Sykesville, Bob was best known as the town Barber, a trade he practiced for 65 years. His barbershop was more than a place for haircuts, it was a gathering spot where stories were shared, friendships were built, and everyone felt welcome. Bob mentored and trained his youngest son Eric and his grandson Patrick to become Barbers which he was very proud of.
Outside the shop, Bob enjoyed time at Camp No Buck, where he cherished the outdoors, good conversation, and lifelong traditions. He also took great pride in his gardens and yard, spending countless hours tending to his plants. Bob and Carol enjoyed road trips to the casino. Bob was also a lifelong fan of the DuBois Beavers Football team as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bob was a 1956 graduate of the Sykesville Highschool, a lifetime member of the Sykesville fire Department, Sykesville Chamber of Commerce, Sykesville American Legion post 345, former tax collector, member of the Knights of Columbus. He took great pride in the planning and development of the Sykesville Town Square.
Bob is survived by His Daughter, Kathleen (Mike) McAninch, Bill (Lori) Mehok, Steve Mehok, and Eric (Janet) Mehok, 9- Grandchildren, Evan (Kelly) McAninch, Jill (Rick) Stepnowski, Patrick (Ashley) Mehok, Kelly Mehok, Robert (Emma) Mehok, Rebecca (Tyler) Posteraro, Daniel Mehok, Jen (Scott) Jacobs and Nate (Dawn) Grimm. 8- Great Grand Children, Cameron, Natalie, Leonard, Oliver, Lauren, Kyle, Peyton and Koby One sister, Martha Zimmerman, a sister-in-law, Beryl Kelly and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet kindness, and the steady presence he brought to the community he loved.
Visitation will be held on Sunday April 26, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm and on Monday April 27 from 8:00am to 9:30am at the Leo Nedza funeral home, 212 East Main Street Sykesville, Pa. Panachida services will be held at 9:00am on Monday.
A Divine liturgy of Christian burial will be held at on Monday April 27, 2026, at 10:00am at the Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Sykesville Pa
Military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard at the cemetery.
