She is preceded in death by husband Joseph Byer, father Michael Benyacko, brother Michael and sister Denise.

Survived by mother Marianna (Giacomelli, Benyacko) Mariskanish, sister Marianna Glover (Stephen), nephews, Christian, Andrew, Phillip and Donavin. sister-in-law Susan Zahurak (Rusty) and brother- in- law Kevin Byer (Nancy).

Cindee’s disability with muscular dystrophy did not stop her from living a full and happy life. After graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, she met the love of her life, Joseph Byer. For thirty-five years their life was filled with the joy of raising and training their family of Dobermans. Cindee along with her husband, were the owners of CinJoe’s Dog Obedience. They volunteered for many community projects with the Gateway Humane Society. Together they started F.R.I.E.N.D.S., a group of people and their therapy dogs who brought joy to many elderly and disabled at nursing homes. Cindee continued the tradition of monthly visits after Joe’s death until Covid forced her to stop. Cindee authored monthly articles for dog magazines. She was a talented artist and creative writer. Every Christmas, friends and family would eagerly wait for that hand drawn card and letter. She could make you laugh or cry just reading about the antics that happened throughout the year.

Many thanks to friends, neighbors and aides, who made it possible for her to remain in her home, after the loss of her husband. She was truly appreciative and loved you all.

There will be no viewing or visitation as per Cindee’s request.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at Punxsutawney Country Club, 408 North Main Street Punxsutawney, Pa., on April 25, 2026 from 1:00p.m.- 4:00p.m.
