DuBois School Proposes Preliminary Budget

DUBOIS – The DuBois Area School District is starting their budget talks with a multi-million dollar gap, however board members agree they do not want taxes to rise.

The district’s proposed initial budget shows about $73 million dollars in revenue with nearly $78 million dollars in spending.

While funding is expected to increase by almost a million dollars, expenditures are still up by 3.5 percent from last year.

District leaders say the spending primarily focuses on staffing, program funding, and reserve planning. However, they must focus on conservative spending and being fiscally responsible to avoid raising taxes and draining their reserve fund.
