UNDATED – A new state law is changing how you verify your auto insurance, aiming to prevent unfair vehicle registration suspensions.
Act 3 of 2026 requires the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to create an online verification system for auto insurance.
Under the old system, insurers only notified PennDOT when a policy was canceled, not when a new one began, leading to suspension notices from the gap.
This new system would allow PennDOT to verify insurance electronically protecting you from any unnecessary penalties.
