DUBOIS – This Thursday you can learn more about an often overlooked chapter of local history.
In recognition of Black History Month, the DuBois Area Historical society will host a special program exploring the stories of Fudge VanCamp, a former enslaved man, Revolutionary War veteran, and one of the first Black residents of Jefferson County in the early 1800s.
This program will also highlight VanCamp’s descendants and the region’s role in the Underground Railroad.
You can attend this free public event this Thursday at 7pm at the DuBois Historical Society located at 30 West Long Avenue.
