UNDATED – You are asked to remain cautious as an uptick of utility scams are sweeping the area.
According to Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday, imposters have been posing as employees of utility companies and creating false websites to obtain your information.
He goes on to say the scammers often try to create urgency by claiming your bill is past due and you must pay it now.
To prevent falling for one of these scam attempts you can call your utility company, found on your bill, to verify the validity of the information.
