Propelling DuBois Forward

DUBOIS – The newly formed City of DuBois is advancing a strategic plan focused on financial stability, updated regulations, and long-term community growth.

Key initiatives include moving forward with a Stormwater Authority targeted for 2027/2028 and establishing a DuBois Emergency Services Authority to fund services through fees over a property tax millage.

“The other great object that we’re trying to pursue is setting up the new city well for economic development purposes,” explained Interim Manager Ben Kafferlin. “We hear that that is one of the critical issues and it fixes all the others too. If you see new buildings, new jobs, honestly you’re not going to have the kind of budgetary problems that you have “

City leaders also agreed to coordinate economic development projects, rewrite the municipalities codes, and update land use and zoning regulations. A review of a parks and recreation authority and capital improvement plan are also in the works.

Ultimately, officials believe that documenting these initiatives creates accountability between management and the new City Council.
