DUBOIS – A new chapter begins today in DuBois as the former city and Sandy Township are now officially one unified community, now known as the City of DuBois.

City Managers Ben Kafferlin and Lisa Hagberg say that you will not see many day-to-day changes, with most of the work to consolidate has already been completed. Any remaining issues will be addressed as the new administration settles in.

Everything begins at 1pm today at the Reitz Theater where the new mayor, city council, and police officers take their oaths of office.

At 2pm a ribbon cutting will be held at the newly renovated municipal building on West Scribner Avenue. A brief reception will be held afterwards.

The day will conclude with the first official meeting of the new City Council formally ushering the new government of the unified City of DuBois.
