Jefferson County Law Enforcement Warn of Phone Scam

JEFFERSON COUNTY – Police are warning you about a recent scam attempt claiming there is a warrant for your arrest.

According to State Police, a Jefferson County woman was contacted through a local phone number claiming she had an active arrest warrant through the Sheriff’s Department. The victim was told she needed to pay $8,000 dollars, or she would serve 30 days in jail. The woman was also provided with fraudulent documents before she called authorities who confirmed that it was all a scam.
