DUBOIS – Taxes are going up as DuBois and Sandy Township lawmakers explore a new approach to budgeting for 2026.
Manager Ben Kafferlin is looking to change up the way a municipal budget is handled, focusing on what the people really need.
“Rather than focusing on the incremental changes of inputs, instead it shifts the focus so you are thinking about what outcomes are really coming from your government’s departments,” explained Kafferlin.
Ultimately Sandy Township taxes could go up 30 percent, largely due to inflation, union increases, and healthcare costs, Kafferlin believes that you will end up saving money in the long run.
This is just a preliminary look at the budget. The full budget is expected to pass in November.
