BROCKWAY – Crews spent multiple hours spraying water onto molten glass Easter Sunday at O-I Glass Plant #19.

At around 2:52pm crews received reports of a working structure fire at the glass plant. Once on scene crews learned that there was a molten glass leak.

Over the next four and a half hours crews drowned the area in over 300,000 gallons of water to cool down the lava like glass ravaging the area.

Around thirteen fire stations from Jefferson, Elk and Clearfield Counties took turns entering the overwhelmingly hot facility, ultimately quelling the blaze.

At this time no injuries have been reported.
