UNDATED – Recent studies have been showcasing the impact of substance abuse in the workplace.
In the workplace an estimated 22.5 percent of individuals are actively drunk or high. Affecting not only the individual but co-workers, productivity, presentation, and the business in general.
We spoke with Carol Jackson, Deputy Director at the Clearfield-Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission, who explained to us how local businesses can combat these trends.
“We need to avoid the stigma, and assuming that people do this for whatever reason,“ explained Jackson. “Anybody can become addicted, it can be any socio-economic class, anything. Being more helpful I think than punitive would be great.”
In the end, addiction is a chronic disease that is not only decimating people but also businesses.
