Vulgar Anonymous Letters Sent to Public/Elected Officials

DUBOIS – A recent string of vulgar and hate filled anonymous letters have been sent out to both the public and elected officials.

Originally brought forward by Linda Clark at Wednesday night’s Joint Consolidation Meeting, these letters have seemingly been sent out in retaliation to comments made at public meetings.

We spoke with Sergeant Shawn McCleary on his ongoing investigation into the letters.

“That stuff should not be happening and everybody needs to be better and do better.” explained Sergeant McCleary. “But we have gotten some letters, some stuff has been turned over to State Police. But we’ve looked into what we could with fingerprints, did what we could, now I’m getting that all together and I’m going to turn that into the postmaster to see where these letters are coming from.”

One other person at the meeting confirmed that they have received those same anonymous letters in addition to Township Supervisor Barry Abbot.

All members of the Joint Consolidation Board, except for DuBois Mayor Pat Reasinger and Councilman Jim Aughenbaugh who were not present at the meeting, publicly denounced this form of hatred.
