CLEARFIELD – The Department of Corrections has recommended that the Quehanna Boot Camp should close their doors.
The boot camp opened in June of 1992 as the Department of Corrections’ first ever military style motivational boot camp. The facility was designed to have inmates go through a six month training program with a drug and alcohol treatment component.
Now, the DOC has announced that they recommend the facility should close. County Commissioners plan on fighting to preserve the boot camp.
Quehanna Boot Camp currently houses 234 staff members and 348 inmates. The DOC says that all workers will have the opportunity to continue employment at other facilities.
