DUBOIS – In Altoona a man wanted for an alleged murder was caught by someone speaking out, we hear from authorities in our area who say when in doubt, speak out.
We spoke to Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers, who says that you should never be afraid to speak out.
“Law enforcement officers are only in so many places at a time and can’t be everywhere,“ explained DA Sayers. “Sometimes our best information, and our best eyes and ears are from the general public.”
Sayers also spoke highly about the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers, a phone line used for reporting anonymous tips, in addition the DA’s website has a form that you can fill out that goes directly to detectives.
“That information that people send, they might think ‘oh nothing will come of it’ however it is really important, especially in drug related cases,” stated DA Sayers. “Because if we get enough tips, they can use those tips and put them all together to get the probable cause they need to get a search warrant.“
In the end, the DA believes that you should always speak up.
