DUBOIS – A DuBois mother and son have been giving back to local veterans for 10 years in the DuBois area.
During the past 10 years Melissa Strong and her son Levi have been creating handmade goodie bags for our local veterans. Telling us that this is their way of giving back.
“We call them Tokens of Appreciation, because that’s what they are,“ explained Melissa Strong. “We started this program to appreciate our veterans. And what we do is we started out by handing 135 out. We started out with red carnations, and I jumped to photos the next year. And now we’re handing out 500.”
This year the Tokens of Appreciation included a hand engraved wooden key chain and a picture of an eagle taken by the Strong Family.
The duo believes that touching one veteran’s heart at a time can truly make a difference.
