DUBOIS – It has been nearly three weeks since Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina, we take a look into recovery efforts still taking place in the region.
A community based group, dubbed Samaritan’s Purse, is on the front line. Partnering with the United Cajun Navy, the groups are trekking into the hardest hit areas of North Carolina offering supplies and support in whatever way they can.
At this time, the donations we received at Priority Media are being handed out through these groups in the washed away mountainous regions of North Carolina.
Our crews traveled to North Carolina getting footage of the disaster struck areas and our supplies arriving at the House of Freedom. We also spoke with Pastor Dana, who told us about her dedication to helping those in need.
“With this ministry we are all about outreach,“ explained Pastor Dana. “We don’t just go into areas just when they need it then, we try to hang out for a while. A lot of times when these disasters happen a lot of people come in at one time, but then they don’t stay for the long haul. These people are going to be in recovery for months, so we are going to continue to deploy and right now there’s a cold front coming in. So what they’re asking for is like socks, and heaters, and blankets. And they are still needing infant formula and diapers and wipes, and all those kinds of things for babies.”
In the Tri-County area, donation drives are still going strong to help those affected by Hurricane Helene.
