CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Habitat for Humanity is hosting their 22nd King of the Mountain bike race, this year honoring the memory of their founder and biking enthusiast John Farr.

This Sunday, riders will go through a five mile uphill scenic ride from the base to the summit of Rockton Mountain raising awareness and funds for the community based organization.

According to the executive director of the Clearfield County Habitat for Humanity, Meri Collins, this year’s race has a sentimental factor to it as it is the first year without an integral member.

“This is something our founder John Farr had started a while back,“ explained Collins. “Unfortunately this is the first year without him, he had passed away in February, so we are honoring his legacy a little bit by carrying the event on and will continue to do so as supporters follow us.”

Habitat for Humanity prides themselves on building safe and affordable housing for those in need. Recently the group completed a build in Curwensville and are now looking at a Clearfield location.

With a variety of different awards and prizes, you can sign up for this year’s race anytime. Registration will cost $25 or $30 on race day. Registration begins at 11am at the Clearfield County Fair Grounds with kickstands up at noon.
