Rental Units Will Not Require Registration
DUBOIS — A proposed bill detailing registration requirements for rental units within the City of DuBois failed to advance during Monday night’s city council meeting.
Council Bill No. 1975 was amended last month before its first official reading as the year’s end approaches. Several landlords and rental property owners spoke out against the ordinance, stating it would be discriminatory and detrimental to tenants and owners alike.
According to Acting City Manager, Chris Nasuti, the same ordinance was attempted in 2016 and failed to pass at that time…
The bill would have increased the amount of information needed to be provided by tenants and owners for City use. Single-family dwellings would not have been subject to the same registration requirements.
Bid Awarded For Library Upgrades
Council moved to award a bid for the upgrading of air conditioning units in the City Library.
Overdorf Snyder Mechanical will install the new units per their submission of a $98,771 bid. The upgrades are fully covered by a Keystone grant via The Department of Community and Economic Development at no cost to the City.
Overdorf Snyder Mechanical was selected after a public call for bids in November.
