Pennsylvania’s jobless numbers remain steady

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was unchanged from December through January according to the most recent Department of Labor and  Industry report.

With a steady jobless rate of 4.3 percent, the Commonwealth is nearly one full percentage point higher than the U.S. rate of 3.4 percent.

The state’s Acting Labor and Industry Secretary Nancy Walker said, “The January data shows stability in Pennsylvania’s economy.” But other statistics show that the estimated number of residents looking for work was up 11,000 over the month.
